| 10/20/2009 2:12:00 PM | Email this article Print this article | Kiel celebrates Halloween Oct. 31 Scarecrows seen inside and outside Kiel businesses this October are not intended to scare off customers but rather want to attract folks to shop locally.
The friendly scarecrows are leading up to Kiel's lst annual Screcrow Fest sponsored by the Kiel Area Association of Commerce.
The Scarecrow Fest event takes place Saturday, Oct. 31 in Kiel City Park from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
That day KAAC members are being invited to offer their goods or services to the general public displayed from booths set up in the park. Crafters booths will also be on hand.
As a added attraction there will be pumpkin carving and scarecrow making contests sponsored by the Kiel Recreation Department, games for kids sponsored by the Kiel Co-op Preschool, food sponsored by Millhome Supper Club, Parker Johns, and Quality Concessions. There will also be an inflatable bounce house. A Mr. Billy Concert is taking place at 1 p.m.
The traditional trick or treating in the Kiel community will run from 2-4 p.m., concluding with a 4 p.m. costume parade lead by the Kiel Middle School band. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Kiel City Hall gymnasium.
All park events are free admission.
