Kiel hosts Memorial parade, service
Citizens from the Kiel Area gathered Monday, May 26, 2008 at Veterans Memorial Park along the banks of the Sheboygan River to pay their respects to American soldiers who gave their lives in service to the nation. Kiel's VFW Post 6707 conducted the memorial service, with the assistance of the Kiel Municipal Band, Kiel Symphonic Band and Kiel Middle School Band. Kiel Boy Scouts led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Voice of Democracy winner Whitney Radder presented her winning oration. Mike Mathes served as the emcee for the program, while Rev. Curtis Larson delivered the invocation and benediction. Courtney Toepel led the crowd in the singing of the National Anthem.
